Your Therapeutic Journey With Michelle Falcon

"How did I get here?!"

Most problems begin with a trigger that activates an emotional crisis in some way. Perhaps it is a relationship break up, the loss of a loved one, a traumatic event, bullying at work; and this can result in us feeling angry, scared or upset. When we lack some of the skills to cope with such trauma it can be overwhelming. All you know is that it is causing you to behave in ways that you don’t want; perhaps you are being reactive and snappy or panicky, tearful and distraught. You just can’t seem to get control of your emotions. Or, perhaps it is the opposite; you feel so shut off and disconnected. In either case, at some point you find yourself asking “What is wrong with me?!”
 
But deep down you know that the problem really started well before that latest crisis. This is just the next thing making you feel bad. And maybe the underlying issue is low self-esteem, not feeling good enough, not having enough attention… but you’re not quite sure. There is just this niggling anxiety or feeling that won’t go away, no matter how hard you try to banish it. Perhaps you’ve always felt this way and are just beginning to realise that you no longer want this in your life, that enough is enough. It’s time to do something different, to address this thing head on. But you’ve tried so many times to resolve this for yourself and now you need some help.
 
I’m here to say that it is okay to ask for help. No child ever learned algebra without the aid of a book or a teacher. And just because you are an adult it doesn’t mean that you have to struggle on, thinking “I should be able to cope with this “ or “I should know how to do this”. Life doesn’t come with an instruction manual but having one sure helps!
The therapeutic journey involves first recognising that there is a problem

The Problem: the nub of the matter

Most people struggle with their problem for a good while before they seek help so, if you are sat there thinking "Is it just me?" please know that you are not alone in this. The reason you have not been able to resolve this for yourself is because you are inside of the problem, unable to see your way out. The therapeutic process allows you to borrow a brain. A coach and therapist can help you to helicopter above the current situation, to shed light on the problem, bringing new perspectives that assist you in developing alternative ways of thinking, which then reveal new solutions and bring new results. Therapy helps you to dive beneath the curtain, to seek the root cause of the problem and heal it in a way where it has no chance of returning.  We can liken the difference to cutting back the leaves of a weed or pulling it out at its root. When we resolve the root cause of an issue it means you can be free of the problem for good and live your life feeling emotionally balanced and secure.
 
I know that your particular situation may seem hopeless right now, but I can assure you that things can change very quickly; you just need to want them to. The one constant, is that change is inevitable and what seems like a black cloud in one moment can turn to miraculous sunshine, minutes or even seconds later. Life can turn on the flip of a coin and change is easier than you think.

Inner Healing

​My role as a therapeutic coach is to support you and to have you back on your feet as quickly as possible. Many people come into therapy thinking that the therapist is going to "fix" them.  But the truth is, I don't fix you, YOU fix you. Your therapist is merely your personal trainer, sharing expertise and knowledge, whilst keeping you on track to get the results that you want. Your self-healing comes about as a result of you committing to do the inner work. You will overcome your difficulties and you never know, but it is always a possibility, that you may just leave the therapeutic process as an even better version of yourself than before you began. During the therapeutic journey you will update your skills and empower yourself with the resilience to face the challenges of life. You will resolve the issues that triggered your emotional crisis and you will address your unmet needs in a way that is healthy, emotionally and physically healing for you. 

Journey's End

“Why?” is the biggest question that people ask and one that has us all in knots. When all of this is over, everything is resolved and you feel calm again, you will be able to look back on the therapeutic journey as one of adventure; a voyage of self-discovery where we explored together a whole new world that you didn’t even know could exist. One that is filled with the sunny rays of hope and joy, possibility and creation; for you to live your life in the way that you want, moving forward with ease and confidence.
 
By the end of this journey, you will have had revelations, understandings and enlightenment. You will have developed a greater level of consciousness, to have a bigger comprehension of  the purpose of life, and most especially the purpose of your life. By the end of our therapeutic journey together, your unconscious mind will be your new best friend. You will appreciate what you have learned about yourself, as you have been able to observe your own growth and development as a human being. 
 
Life is a gift, and the therapeutic process can help you to discover that. The coaching process can take a few weeks, a few months or for those on a committed personal development journey, even a few years. How far you want to go or how deep you want to dive is always entirely up to you and I am here to guide you and hold your hand along the way.
